Eugene City Council public meeting this Monday, Dec. 12 – doors open at 7:00 p.m. The public hearing is likely the final opportunity for Eugene residents to present their views before City Councilors vote. Will you join us and support testifiers and our partners at the public hearing? Sign up here to let us know.
My name is Jennifer Yocom, and I’m NW Natural’s Local Government Affairs Manager. I’m reaching out because you recently joined hundreds of Eugene business owners, community leaders and residents in signing a letter voicing support for energy choice. Thank you for your engagement. We will submit this letter with signers’ names to the Eugene City Council after their public meeting on Monday, Dec. 12 about an ordinance to ban natural gas in new homes and low-rise residential buildings beginning next year. Because of the community’s overwhelming engagement during last month’s public hearing on this topic, the City decided to hold this additional hearing in order to hear from the more than 30 residents who were signed up to speak but were unable to due to time constraints. We encourage you to attend the hearing to support those who are already on the list to speak – you can help show City Councilors that Eugene residents support energy choice! And if you haven’t already, I also encourage you to contact Councilors directly to share your concerns.
Sign up here to let us know you plan to attend the public hearing on Dec. 12. Submit written testimony to mayorcouncilandcitymanager@eugene-or.gov. When submitting comments, please consider including your ward number in your email.Thank you again. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you might have about this conversation.

Show Your Support For Energy Choice – 70% Oppose Radical Plan
This is an URGENT EUGENE GAS BAN ALERT. Your presence is needed at the Eugene City Council Meeting this Monday, December 12th at 7pm to put pressure on the council to heed to overwhelming 70% opposition to their radical “Ordinance Prohibiting Fossil Fuel Infrastructure in New Low-Rise Residential Buildings and Adding Section 6.695 and 6.696 to the Eugene Code, 1971.5”
That’s right! The radical Eugene Mayor, City Councilors, and out-of-town activists pushing to ban natural gas in Eugene are back at it. Last time it was the Monday before Thanksgiving week when they tried to sneak through a hearing, but we responded in huge numbers with compelling testimony.

Now, it is the Monday before Christmas, and they are back at it! We need to show up big time and make sure they “feel the heat” from all of us who are opposed to their damaging, costly, and extreme ordinance. They figure they were going to roll over and snooze through the holidays as they try to rig the process. Let’s let them know that we are “cooking with gas!”
