Dear PCPs and Fellow Republicans:
I am reminded of how powerful and necessary stability is to the well-being of our families and our community. This weekend I am working with my church, other Creswell churches and with community members to refurbish two less-than-healthy-living homes whose families are local and have young children. The Creswell folks do this every year and I love watching the lives of families change when they have been given a gift of stability.
Stability is what Lane County Republicans want for our community, our county, our state and nation. It is why I am thankful to President Trump for creating policies that have generated our nation’s lowest unemployment in nearly 50 years. Jobs mean stability. I am proud of our Oregon Republican senators as they tried to guard Oregonians from instability last week by withholding a quorum from the Democrats in the Senate who were ready to vote in a brand new sales tax on business. More taxation means less stability. Though ultimately the Republican senators did not succeed in preventing the passage of that tax, their actions did result in a negotiated death of the dreadful multifaceted gun control bill, SB 978, which was very likely to reach a vote later in this legislative session.
County Parties benefit from a good foundation too. For the Lane County Republicans, that means passing our budget. Let’s get a budget passed! I look forward to presenting to our Precinct Committee Persons a choice of two budgets at the next LC Central Committee Meeting. I encourage you to come. We need a quorum to get this job done and to keep our party going strong. The Lane County Central Committee Meeting will be on June 6 at the Springfield Utility Building on A street in Springfield. Credentialing is at 6:30 pm. Meeting begins at 7 pm.
Republican Proud,
John Large
