Senate Republicans Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

His wisdom of non-violence and peaceful protest still rings true. As he said in his 1964 Nobel lecture, “Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love… violence ends up defeating itself. It creates bitterness in the survivors and brutality in the destroyers. What is clear from Dr. King’s writing and teachings is that he would detest the violence that has taken over many American city streets in the name of ‘justice.’ Today, we should remember Dr. King for what he actually did and advocated for. His incredible sacrifice is a lesson for all of us.”
